A Winning Team
Our amazing team of regular and
part-time volunteers are committed to helping MHS cats find new homes. We could not exist without them! They feed, clean and socialize the cats at PetSmart in Saugus, MA. We have 3 groups - the morning volunteers, the evening volunteers and our weekend people who assist with adoptions. Our foster parents are the BEST. Interested? Contact us and let us know.
Our Mission
MHS takes in cats only. We take injured, unwanted and abandoned cats, get them medically treated, spayed/neutered, then we hold them until we find permanent homes for them. We show cats ready for adoption at PetSmart in Saugus, MA. We have no brick-and-mortar shelter; we use our volunteers homes as foster homes. We are an all volunteer 501(C)3 organization completely dependent on donations. We are always looking for foster homes. Use the FOSTER button to let us know if you would like to be a foster home.

Melrose Humane Society works with Revere Pet Clinic - as do other rescues and shelters. Dr. Olga and her staff provide excellent care for our cats. They are most helpful with our spay/neuter program.

Foster families, supporters and friends

People who foster for MHS offer our cats a safe, warm place to stay until we can get them to the vet for a checkup and vaccines - and to be spayed or neutered. Our foster families usually have only one or two cats at a time - none of them need an intervention. They also provide socialization for cats that have been on the streets for awhile. They provide substitute love for a cat that has lost a loved owner. Cats that have lived with their owners for a length of time, do grieve their loss.

There are MANY people who are kind and willing to help strays. Many feed cats in colonies, rescue kittens and reach out whenever there is a need. MHS tries to help those wonderful rescuers find new homes for their rescues. We need volunteers
We are in need of volunteers at this moment, if you want to help, please just let us know and we will update you on the days and hours we have available. Our volunteers are THE BEST, but sometimes, they need to leave - for a job, for school, etc. so we sometimes have unexpected openings. Just use the CONTACT US tab to send us a message.
